Eden, NSW, Australia Shits Me!

Stayed the night in Eden, expected to meet Adam and Eve and have a peaceful time, FAIL!

Should have known something was wrong when the Motel woman said she’d put us up a little way from the corner because “after all it is Friday night”.

Went to the local fisherman’s club for dinner, that was fine but having a go on the poker machines afterwards we had to put up with Karaoke in the area next door. My God, Eden will not be producing even a candidate for Australian Idol any time soon let alone a winner. The guys singing were particularly bad and the girls only seemed better but that was onyl because they were not as loud as the blokes. We reported their criminal sound making to the police officers that were at the door of the club as we were leaving.

But the worst part was the drunk idiots walking around after midnight, screaming and throwing up outside the Motel, you could hear them clearly, then others driving around blowing their horn at 100am in the morning, really clever you idiots.

I haven’t seen Eden as I arrived in darkness, hopefully it will be a nice little town during daylight but if you’re coming this way, avoid it on Friday and I expect Saturday nights, or skip it all together, Lakes Entrance wasn’t too far away and seemed really nice. If I change my mind I’ll let you know.

Don.

Yes there is nothing worse than having to spend the night in a strange hotel somewhere and hearing loud people screaming and vomiting outside your hotel room. How awful. I must say I have not been to Eden but I am not sure I will visit. Surely there has to be some lovely parts and you were just a bit unlucky !

Well I live in Eden and Yes there are some lovely parts – it is a beautiful town, Don – maybe you should have a drink and relax – you might enjoy yourself. Eden is a very peaceful and beautiful place to visit, what town doesn’t have the odd drunk person!
Eden rocks – if you dont like it – dont come back!

Fair enough Beth, I was reacting to the sleep interruption because I had a long drive ahead of me. Next time I do visit I should stay outside of the town centre. Agreed, your town is beautiful, it does shit me though when those low-lifes carry on, and they do it everywhere, just look at Melbourne, there are people being bashed and stabbed all over the place!

Don – give eden another go – I’m sure your next stay will be better – come in October as you are sure to see a whale or two and they are usually sober and on their best behaviour for our tourists.

Thanks Abdul, Shahid or Ben, which ever you are, or are you flat mates all living together and sharing the same machine? Not sure which given your comments have all come from the same address. I guess your command of the English language and your lovely ability to articulate your opinion just proves my point. Why would anyone want to go to Eden when there are people that speak like you? You may have also liked to check the other comments where someone from eden actually suggested I might like to reconsider my opinion, in a nice positive way. Good on you for commenting though, even though there are a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes, but you can keep practicing.

Hi Don, I’m sorry to hear Eden’s lost even the tiniest bit of its beauty & charm. My husband & I (both Americans) were living in Canberra about 13 years ago. We spent our last weekend in Eden & I still talk about its beauty. Just tonight having dinner out I was chatting with two other diners and listed Eden, NSW, AU & Uclulett, BC, Canada as the two most beautiful places on earth. Eden’s name is appropriate!

Mikki,

I’m really pleased to have someone from The States visiting! I must admit, and have done so in the comments that I’ve only been there once so I think it deserves another chance. Despite my initial bad experience I do acknowledge Eden’s beuaty!

Don, it definitely deserves another chance. Steve & I went the last weekend in October. We drove down from Canberra through Cooma. It was incredible to drive through the temperate jungle and see the most beautiful colors – from deep turquoise to a breath-taking sapphire – of the ocean. Eden will always be one of my favorite places. I hope it will always keep its beauty & charms.

Hi Don i too live in Eden, i moved to melb for 18mths and have now come back, for a much more peaceful lifestyle,i do not know anyone by the name of abdul or shahid so presume it a couple of drop kicks trying to get there name published (probebly not even locals) you must have stayed the wrong end of town because i have never had a problem with drunken idiots at the north end,and ,now that the worst pub in town for yahoos has closed and (hopefully) will reopen soon under new managers that can control the responsable service of alcohol properly it should not happen . Every town has the odd night of problems and as a true local i am sorry that you had to witness it ,regards Terrianne.

Thanks for your comment Terrianne. It seems you’ve had a good read of the comments and have probably seen that I’m up for another visit to Eden and maybe a longer stay this time and a good look around!
