Cheap Developments Shit Me!
I was reminded recently when away for a few days for a Christmas holiday of the time I lived in an apartment block that had been developed on-the-cheap.
I didn’t know it when I looked at the apartment I eventually purchased because everything look fabulous, the whole development was brand new, an old building, but a brand new conversion to apartments. On the whole, everything was very good, all the fittings were fine, the common areas were nice, everything worked wel, secure underground parking. The only thing that let the development down and gave me the shits wasthe thin walls!
My neighbour was a lovely older fellow but his kitchen was through my bedroom wall and he would be up at about 600am every morning, weekends included, and he would boil his kettle, turn on his radio, clang a few dishes cooking, fart long and loud and blow his nose, several times.
I don’t blame him, although I would have been a little more considerate of my neighbour when I knew their bedroom was through the wall from my kitchen, and of course knowing how thin the walls were, but that’s me.
I think the developers are cheap bastards, they used noise dampening walls. What a load of shit, those walls were made of foam, it was like living in a esky, it kept things warm or cool, but didn’t stop noise. If you’re going to develop a property don’t give your client the shits by cutting costs, do a quality job, it’s beter for everyone.
Don.
